Scientists Use Ancient Genes to Estimate Contact Between Humans, Neanderthals

A new study used ancient genes to look into interactions between Neanderthals and modern humans. Results of two recent studies estimate the two groups likely met and began mating about 45,000 years ago. The team noted the contact likely had a major influence on humans’ genetic code.
