Men and women in the workplace, speech by CEO

George: Hello, I hope you’ve all been made aware of the steps I’ve taken to guarantee equal pay between men and women in this company. There is no doubt that we have historically failed to treat men and women with respect and decency. We have recognized that and we need to change.

Some might say that the steps we have recently taken have resolved the issue of gender inequality here, but that could not be further from the truth.  I recognize the fact that there has been an intrinsic mistreatment of women within our company. Women have often had to complete far more hours, and work far harder, in order to get the deserved promotions.

We cannot rest on our laurels, assuming that money is the answer to all gender inequality. We have to recognize that in order to really change things, there must be an effort to change the whole work culture, so that any woman can be guaranteed exactly the same opportunities as men to progress in this company. This is not just an issue within our own company, but something that we must improve across society.

As your new CEO, I promise that we will move heaven and earth to ensure that women can flourish. Please do not hesitate to tell me personally if you ever feel that we are not doing enough to make it happen.
