Paul : Hello ! How’s business ?
Precious : Not too bad but there’s still room for improvement, I don’t know what to do though. I’ve tried promotions and sales, but it’s not enough.
Paul : OK. Well, as I think you know, I’m in sales, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve. Would you like to hear my suggestions ?
Precious : Yes, I’m all ears !
Paul : Well, perhaps you could rethink the layout of the shop. Perhaps you could put your high-profit items near the front of the store. What’s that for you ?
Precious : Hm it’s bread.
Paul : OK. Well, perhaps you could put the bread over there, by the door.
Precious : OK.
Paul : Perhaps you could put the baskets there too to make it easy for people to help themselves. And if I were you, I would occasionally offer free food samples. Not only will customers try something new that they might buy, but it will also make them stop and have a look around.
Precious: That’s a good idea, I’ll definitely do that !
Paul : And why don’t you play any music ? Music makes people feel good, and when they feel good, they might buy more.
Precious : Oh wow, you really know a lot.
Paul : You could even take it a step further and have a nice scent in the shop. I mean, you sell candles ! Why don’t you burn something, like a vanilla candle, that feels warm and homely.
Precious : Well thanks, I really appreciate your help. I owe you one !
