Intensifiers
We use intensifiers to strengthen another word. They are placed in front of adjectives or adverbs. The intensifiers affects the word to its right —> It’s very tasty (very affects tasty).
Here are some examples of intensifiers :
These add a lot of strength :
– Very —> It’s very sunny.
– Really —> It’s really hot.
– Extremely —> The game is extremely dangerous.
– Amazingly —> He is amazingly strong.
– Incredibly —> She is incredibly clever.
These add less strength :
– Quite —> The exercise was quite hard.
– Pretty —> Our holidays were pretty cool.
– Fairly —> It’s fairly understandable.
– Rather —> He was rather charming.
