Emily : Have you heard about the new airport they want to build near here ?
Matt : Yes, I have. It’s a really controversial project. What do you feel about it ?
Emily : I understand why they would want to build a new one, seeing as the transport links are not very good. In my opinion, I think it could be good for business !
Matt : Yes, but at what cost ? And I don’t just mean financially. We, the taxpayer, have to pay for it, but also from an environmental point of view. More traffic will mean more pollution.
Emily : That’s true. And noise pollution too. Can you imagine having planes flying over your house every day ?
Matt : Yes, we’ve just bought our house. I’m sure it will loose value.
Emily : It sounds like you feel really strongly about this cause.
Matt : Yes, I do. I’m really against having an airport so close to here.
Emily : Why don’t you start a group on social media ? I’m sure there’re lots of other people who share the same opinion as you.
Matt : That’s a good idea. I’ll give it a go and see what happens. Hey, do you want to join ?
Emily : No thanks, I’m afraid I don’t feel as strongly as you.
Matt : As far as I’m concerned, I think somebody should do something about it. So I will !
