Kate & music teacher :
Hannah : Hello Kate, thank you for coming to see me. Please, sit down. Would you like a drink ?
Kate : No, no, thank you.
Hannah : So today we’re going to talk about your career. And we’re also going to talk about your future job interviews.
Kate : Great.
Hannah : So Kate, tell me where you see yourself after graduation.
Kate : Well, in two years, I will have graduated my Music Degree with a great score, obviously. And after that, I wish to work as a sound engineer in a studio in London. In parallel, I would like to prepare a demo to send out to the record labels.
Hannah : It’s a good idea to have a stable job whilst still trying to make it as a musician.
Kate : And within 5 years, I’ll be touring the world with my band !
Hannah : It’s great to be ambitious, but don’t get ahead of yourself, Kate. Have you thought what studios you’d like to apply to ?
Kate : Well, I like film and I like music so I would like to combine the two and hopefully work on film soundtracks. If I’m lucky, I may even get to sing on one of the tracks !
Hannah : First, I’d like you to research the music studios in London that you’d like to make an application to. I’ll be asking everyone for their lists in two weeks’ time, so make sure your application is ready by then. Then, we can work on your CV and get some interview practise. We’ll be organising some CV workshops next semester, so it would be good to get one organised by then.
Kate : OK. That’s quite a lot to do…
Hannah : Finding a job isn’t easy, and finding the right job is difficult. But I think you have potential, so carry on working hard.
Kate : Thank you !
