Michele and Paul on sofa next to each other

Michele : Paul and I are celebrating our 20^th wedding anniversary next year.
Paul : It’s amazing isn’t it ? It sounds like such a long time, but it doesn’t feel like it.  Sometimes, most of the time, I feel like I’m 21 still !
Michele : I remember the day he proposed like it was yesterday.  We’d just finished watching a movie, and we went to have something to eat.
Paul : I was so nervous.
Michele : You looked really pale.  He went to the toilet, and I thought he was sick.  So I suggested we went back to the hotel.
Paul : I knew that I wanted to pop the question that night, but I just couldn’t find the right moment.  I thought about putting the ring in the glass of champagne, or asking her during dessert, but the restaurant just didn’t feel like the right place.
Michele : Is that right ? You never told me about that !
Paul : You suggested going back to the hotel, and as we were walking back, we past the most beautiful fountain.  And I knew « this was the place ».  So I stopped, got down on one knee…
Michele : ..It was very romantic !
Paul :  … and I popped the question !
Michele : I was so surprised ! I wasn’t expecting it at all !
Paul : It took her a long time to answer…  I was getting really nervous…
Michele : Were you ? I was just in shock.  Then, I said yes of course !  We put the ring on my finger – this one – and we called our families to share the good news !
Paul : And now, 20 years later, here we are : still happily married and together.  Who’d have thought it !
