Emily : Thank you for inviting me here today to talk about Success.
If you think you’re going to leave here today with the secret to success, then I’m sorry to disappoint you. I wish I knew that secret myself !
I’m going to give you some tips from a famous entrepreneur who is a model to me. You may or may not already know him, but as business students, I urge you to go out and find some more out about this charismatic person.
His name is Jack Ma, and he’s the founder and CEO of Alibaba. Ma believes that to be successful, you should learn from others mistakes and not from the success stories.
When he was a young adult, he applied to over 30 jobs and got rejected by all of them. Today, his e-commerce company is valued at $519 billion.
Jack Ma has some advice for you as you climb the career ladder.
Instead of setting your goals and aspirations on others success, Ma recommends making yourself your own competition. You can do that by imagining what you hope to succeed in 10 years. So what I want you to think about today: where do you want to be in 10 years time ?
