Pippa : Well, I’ve been having problems digesting, and I have very bad stomach aches. Sometimes, I feel dizzy.
Dr Smith : How long have you been feeling like this ?
Pippa : Oh..I think about a week, maybe.
Dr Smith : And did it start suddenly ? Did anything happen to cause it ?
Pippa : I don’t know. I’m a bit more stressed than usual : we have a big project at the moment, but I’ve never felt like this before.
Dr Smith : So, why don’t you lie down and we’ll check. So, does it hurt when I press here ? here ?
Pippa : No…
Dr Smith : Here ?
Pippa : Ow.
Dr Smith : Right, okay. So, for today I will give you a prescription for some painkillers. Do you have any allergies ?
Pippa : Not that I know of.
Dr Smith : It’s just paracetamol. It will help you with the stomach pains. And I would like to make an appointment for you at the hospital. I’m also going to refer you to a specialist at the hospital. Erm.They will be in touch with you sometime next week to make an appointment.
Pippa : Do you think it’s something serious doctor ?
Dr Smith : It could be a lot of things. If I were you, I would not worry, take plenty of rest, drink a lot of water and don’t overexert yourself ! And wait for that appointment at the hospital.
