Using “To make” or “To do”
♦We use the verb “To make” when we talk about something that we create or construct using our hands (creations).
For example :
I make gifts. I made the bed.
♦We also use “To make” for decisions.
For example :
I made a reservation. I made a decision. I will make a booking.
♦We use “To do” when we talk about an action. (obligations and tasks).
For example :
I did the shopping. I am doing my homework. I will do the house-work.
We use ‘do’ for general activities. In this case, ‘do’ is often used with ‘something’, ‘nothing’, ‘anything’ or ‘everything’.
For example:
·What did you do at the weekend?
· I didn’t do anything yesterday.
· She’s fed up with doing everything herself.
