Kate : Well, I don’t live in the same town as my parents, so we use Skype or Facetime to stay in touch. That way, I can see my little brother and my little sister too. We always call each other on Sundays, but sometimes, when I’m feeling blue, I call my mom during the week and she always cheers me up.

With my friends, we usually text each other or use different apps.  I also use social media to find out what my friends are up to because they often post photos.

So for university, I could chat with my tutors online and we also have groups so that we could contact each other and help each other.  The other day, I was stuck with a problem, so I just posted the question online and four people answered me.  It was so much faster than just trying to search for the answer on internet by myself !

Anna : Social media is banned at work, we don’t have access to Facebook or any other social media sites.  But that’s OK because I’m so busy ! I don’t have time to go on social media.

I often use email to communicate with clients and colleagues.  I also often use the phone.  Email can be quite impersonal and you can get an answer much quicker on the phone !  It just depends on the time zone because a lot of our customers are based in Asia.

But despite all this new technology, I still prefer meeting people face to face.  I mean, I hate when I’m sitting in the same office and someone sends me a pointless email.  Just get up and come talk to me, I’m only 10 metres away !  I much prefer a chat !
