Salesman : Hi. How can I help you?
Michele : I’d like to return this item. I bought it last week.
Salesman : Sure, what seems to be the problem?
Michele : Well, isn’t it obvious ? The first time I washed it and dried it, it shrank at least five times.
Salesman : Well, erm..Have you looked at the label ? Yeah . . . here we are, it says you’ve got to hand wash it.
Michele : What ? But how am I supposed to know that ? The label’s in Chinese ! And another thing: the stitching is coming out and the colour has faded.
Salesman : Well I’m sorry about that. Obviously, the satisfaction of our customers is the most important priority. I can offer you an exchange.
Michele : I don’t want an exchange ! I want my money back !
Salesman : Well, I can give you a credit on purchase, but since the item was on clearance, unfortunately I can’t give you a refund.
Michele : A clearance item! But there was nothing on the tag or on the clothes stand to say anything about that.
Salesman : But did you not see the small print ? It says on the very back at the bottom of the page that it is on clearance and it can’t be refunded.
Michele : What ? Where ? Small print ? I want to see the manager.
Salesman : Well I’m afraid he’s not here at the moment. And actually, you can only return items within six days, and as you see, this is the 7th day for you.
Michele : Is that also written in small print ?
