Comparisons : Revision

Comparative adjectives :
– To compare differences between 2 objects.
– Are used when 2 nouns are compared.

FORM
Noun (subject) + verb + comparative adjective + than + noun (object).

1. Short adjectives : 1 syllable (and 2 syllable adjectives ending in « Y »)
Noun + Verb + Adjective + -er + than + noun

2. Long adjectives : 2 syllables or more
Noun + Verb + More + Adjective + than + noun.

CAREFUL!
1. To develop your comparisons and the detail you your sentences, you can add these comparative words :
Unlike  Unlike traditional English cuisine, Indian food has lots of flavour.
In contrast to  In contrast to rock music, classical music is more relaxed.

2. Further adjectives for comparison and technology :
Functional  Tablets are more functional than old computers.
Hi-Tech  The new laptops are more hi-tech than the old ones.
Revolutionary  The old smartphones were less revolutionary than the new ones.
Innovative  Our new software is more innovative than our old software.
