Doctor : So what’s the matter ?
Pippa : I couldn’t go to work this morning. I feel terrible ! I have a headache and a sore throat.
Doctor : It looks like you have a fever as well. Have you been sleeping well at the moment ?
Pippa : Oh I didn’t sleep well last night because I was coughing and sneezing.
Doctor : I would like to have a look at your throat and take your temperature. Say “Ah”! Yes, it looks very red and it looks very sore. Do you feel weak ?
Pippa : Weak ?
Doctor : Light-headed ? Do your knees hurt ?
Pippa : Oh yes, my knees hurt. I feel like I’m going to fall over. I just want to go back to bed !
Doctor : I would like to take your blood pressure…
Everything is normal here, so… Well, you have the flu. I’m going to give you some painkillers for the headaches, just paracetamol. And, it’s very important that you take plenty of rest, you drink lots of water and you blow your nose regularly. And you can’t work for 3 days.
Pippa : 3 days ! But I have a coffee shop. I need to be there.
Doctor : Well, I’m sorry but your employees will just have to hold the fort without you. You’re too sick to work. And I’m going to give you a prescription for some Vitamin D. It’s important in the winter when there is less sunshine. So here’s your prescription and you can speak with my secretary for the rest on the way out.
Pippa : Thank you, Doctor.
Doctor : Alright, bye bye.
Pippa : Goodbye.
