What the doctor might say :
We’ll need to run some tests ⇒ tests are used to diagnose a health problem e.g. blood test, or a urine test.
We will keep you here for observation ⇒ If the doctor thinks it is necessary for you to stay at hospital.
I need to take your temperature ⇒ Using a thermometer to check the patient’s temperature.
I’ll prescribe you some antibiotics ⇒ Writing a prescription.
What a patient might say :
I have a rash ⇒ A red, irritated area on the surface of your skin.
I have not been well for 2 weeks ⇒ Explaining how long you have been unwell.
I feel sharp pains when I bend over ⇒ A “sharp pain” is a strong, sudden pain.
I think I’ve pulled a muscle ⇒ When you extend a muscle beyond a normal point, and injure it.
I’d like a second opinion ⇒ When you would like to ask another doctor to confirm the diagnosis.
