REVISION
For questions with the verb « be »
– we can give a short response (usually yes or no)
– the subject and verb change their position in statement and question.

EXAMPLE
⇒ Sentence :
You are free on Tuesday.

⇒ Question :
Are you free on Tuesday ?

⇒ Answers :
If the answer is yes :
We use the short form

EXAMPLE
Is he free on Tuesday ?  ⇒  Yes, he is.

If the answer is no :
We use the short or contracted form.

EXAMPLE
Are they free on Tuesday ?
No, they’re not.
OR
No, they are not.

CAREFUL!
We cannot use the contracted form when giving a short positive answer !
Eg : Yes, he’s (X).
