Comparisons
Comparative adjectives:
– To compare differences between 2 objects.
Noun (subject) + verb + comparative adjective + than + noun (object).
There are different ways to form the comparative :
1. Short adjectives : 1 syllable (and 2 syllable adjectives ending in « Y »)
Noun + Verb + Adjective + – er + than + noun
e.g.
Big (grand) -> She is bigger than me
Pretty (jolie) -> He is prettier than me
2. Long adjectives : 2 syllables or more
Noun + Verb + More + Adjective + than + noun.
e.g.
Tired (fatigué) -> My dogs are more tired than your dogs.
Important (Important) -> My meeting is more important than your meeting.
