George : So even though it’s been surprisingly difficult quarter for our Spanish branch, maybe we can generate some ideas for improving the Spanish market. Would anyone like to kick off?
Emily : Well, do you mind if I start? I was wondering if we could consider ways to develop our image, show that we’re a caring company?
Paul : Sorry, can I just come in here, I mean, do we really need to do anything radically different? And what are you getting at when you say a caring company?
Emily : Well, for instance, can’t we do something to promote an environmentally-friendly approach? We could run a sort of campaign to encourage people to recycle their computers or Ipads for example… we can even start something up to collect the old devices…
Paul : Quite honestly, it sounds a bit complicated, and you’ve got to generate the interest in the first place that requires a budget. And then you’ve got to find somewhere to put all real devices, you’ve got to have someone to check them in, and then what do you do with them??
Emily : We could send them to developing countries – there are organizations that deal with that kind of thing, would be pretty easy to get in contact with them…
George : Coming back to the budget though, how cost-effective is it? I’m reluctant to pump a lot of money into this project.
Emily : Yes, but it’s about being a responsible company – it’s about promoting a good brand name, sometimes it’s worth the investment! We should position ourselves as a company that cares about the planet and its customers, it’s a good selling point!
Paul : You’ve got a good point, but at the same time, I agree with George, we shouldn’t be pouring money into a project that is going to lose money.
George : Hey, maybe that’s the key, finding a way for the project to generate money and cover the cost… I’m willing to consider a project on which we’ll not going to make money, as long as we don’t waste money.
