Paul : I’ve been away for the past of couple weeks – can you get me up to speed with this project?
Emily : All the specifications are in the shared folder… but in a nutshell the client wants us to create a customised version of our GoNow product.
Paul : That sounds pretty straightforward. How’s it going?
Emily : It’s taking forever! The customer keeps wanting to tweak the design, and they never seem satisfied.
Paul : But you must be getting close, right? I mean at least they haven’t made you go back to the drawing board.
Emily : Actually, they did that last month. I had to come up with a complete new design.
Paul : So why are they being so picky? Who’s calling the shots on this project in the client’s company?
Emily : I’ve been working with the managing director, but the problem is that she’s been keeping the CEO in the loop and he makes suggestions that are way off the mark. He doesn’t know a thing about the software either.
Paul : So, what kinds of things does he want?
Emily : For example – the rule of thumb we use for page format is to use font 14 or greater, but he wants to use the text as small as possible so more can fit on the page. What a nightmare!
Paul : It sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate. Is there anything I can do to help make things easier?
Emily : You’ve got a way with words – do you think you could talk to them and explain that if they keep messing around with the spec, I’ll have to put it on the back burner. We have other clients that need our help too.
